French and Saunders in costume comedy
Let Them Eat Cake starred Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders and only lasted for one series in 1999. It was written and created by Peter Learmouth, and is one of the few shows in which French and Saunders have appeared which they didn't create themselves.
Set in 1782, seven years before the French Revolution, and the immoral Colombine, Comtesse de Vache lives at the Palace of Versailles in the Court of Louis XVI. Her loyal maid is Lisette and her acid-tongued manservant is Bouffant. Colombine's constant rival is Madame de Plonge, along with her innocent and sharp-witted daughter, Eveline.
