PLAYBACK RELEASES THREE NEW BBC COMEDIES ON DVD'S

OUT FROM 5TH MAY 2008

Out to own on DVD from 5th May, these three classic BBC series' rekindle memories of cosy nights in with the family and laughing along to the best slapstick comedy and mishaps on television. Now all the family can join the hapless hero René, the Maplins holiday camp team and the mischievous trio of the Yorkshire Dales again. It's time for some quality family time!

Set in a small French village during the Second World War ‘Allo ‘Allo Seasons 6 and 7 sees café proprietor René Artois (Gordon Kaye) pulled in all directions - as he tries to appease the German invaders, he also attempts to maintain his relationship with La Resistance as well as cover up his affairs with his waitresses (Vicki Michelle and Sue Hodge) and constantly calming down his wife Edith (Carmen Silvia) and mother-in-law (Rose Hill).

The whole family is also in for a treat with Hi-de-Hi Season 7 as a mixture of slapstick, innuendo and comedic mishaps will have everyone giggling.

Maplins holiday camp has everything - chalets, knobbly knee competitions, Yellow coats and dances but it seems the staff have other things on their mind; the snobbish dance instructors feel the camp is beneath them, whilst all the chalet maid (Su Pollard) really wants is to be a Yellow coat and the camp entertainer (Paul Shane) cannot help but scam everyone else.

Mayhem and mishaps are also a trait of Last of the Summer Wine Seasons 9 and 10 covering the classic period of 1986 - 1989 when the trio of retired mischief makers, Seymour Utterthwaite (Michael Aldridge), Clegg (Peter Sallis) and Compo (Bill Owen), reigned supreme over the Yorkshire dales and Nora Batty's washing line.

Last of the Summer Wine continues to draw in huge TV audiences, which have helped make it record-breaking as the longest running sitcom ever. Its family-friendly appeal and the positive portrayal of older people have meant it was voted Britain's Best Sitcom in 2004. Its popularity has also increased tourism in the Yorkshire dales and Holmfirth itself by thousands year on year.
