If you like "House" you will love "Life".
"Life", is the great new cop show everyone is talking about, starring Damian Lewis as Detective Charlie Crews, this cop drama takes a fresh, new look at crime fighting and cops.
Detective Crews was framed and imprisoned for a crime he did not commit, the brutal murder of a family. After 12 years imprisonment in the toughest of jails and after suffering violent treatment at the hands of both inmates and prison guards, Charlie is proved innocent by DNA evidence. He proceeds to sue the state and wins a multi-million dollar payout and the right to rejoin the LAPD as a detective.
Charlie Crews has understandably been deeply effected by his time in Jail evidence of which can be seen in his obsession with fresh fruit and open spaces and his Zen like view of the world. His initial ignorance and then enjoyment of new technology like digital cameras, mobile phones and the internet is an entertaining and enlighting sub text to the show.
As with all great detectives Crews has a sidekick in the shape of the unwilling and equally complex Detective Dani Reese played by Sarah Shahi. He also has a second sidekick, in the shape of ex-con and cellmate Ted Early, played by Adam Arkin. Early was found guilty of insider trading and money laundering, but still Charlie trusts him with with managing his in settlement money.
Each episode deals with a crime, but alongside these investigations runs another more sinister one, an investigation carried out privately by Crews, to find out who committed the crime he was imprisoned for and who set him up. But is he looking for justice or revenge? Will he behave like a cop or like a convict?
