Lisa Edelstein plays Dr Lisa Cuddy in the hit TV series House. Dr Lisa Cuddy is one of the central characters in House MD. Her job as Dean of Medicine and hospital administrator of the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey, means she is supposed to be Dr Gregory House's boss. Unfortunately it does not always seem to work out that way.

If the role of Lisa Cuddy had simply been to be a foii to House's more wilful and eccentric behaviour then the show would not have enjoyed as much success as it has, the writer David Shore and the actors Lisa Edelstein and Hugh Laurie have created a magical chemistry between the two characters this adds a depth to the piece and makes us really care about both of them. It is not made clear if Cuddy and House have had an affair when she was a student, it is not made clear but there is definitely a sexual tension between to two and the hints that they have are laid on thick. And it is Cuddy who was involved in the treatment of House's leg. The character of Cuddy evolves through every series, and includes her longing for motherhood.

Lisa Edelstein was born in Boston in 1966, she first achieved fame as she puts it "I was one of those people who was literally famous for doing nothing . . . I was always a part of the club scene in New York and eventually was able to produce my own musical about AIDS "Positive Me" because of the audience and press I received as a club kid."

Her television credits include her regular role on “Leap of Faith” and guest turns on “Seinfeld,” “Without a Trace,” “Frasier” and “ER.” And also played a high class escort and love interest to Rob Lowe in The West Wing.

In feature films, Edelstein starred as Ben Stiller’s aerobics-obsessed date in “Keeping the Faith,” directed by Edward Norton. Additional credits include Mel Gibson’s “What Women Want,” “Daddy Day Care” with Eddie Murphy, “As Good As It Gets,” and the comedies “Say Uncle” and “Grilled” with Ray Romano and Kevin James. She also starred in the dramatic cable feature “Fathers and Sons” opposite Gale Harold.

After learning her craft at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Edelstein performed in numerous off- and off-off-Broadway productions, including the AIDS-related musical “Positive Me,” which she created, authoring, composing and performing the piece.

Luisa Edelstein lives in Los Angeles with her cat and rescue dog. She is an accomplished practitioner of Ashtanga Yoga and volunteers her time by working with the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
