The beautiful latin actress Dania Ramirez plays troubled but deadly Maya Herrera in the hit TV show Heroes, now in it's fourth season. Maya is originally from Santo Domingo and we first meet her in Season two as she is making her way up from her home to New York with her brother, as an illegal immigrant. She is searching for Chandra Suresh (Mohenders father) who she believes can explain and hopefully cure her ability which she sees as a curse. Little does she know that Chandra has already been murdered by Sylar who by one of those Heroes coincidences she and her brother meet on their journey. Her ability is to involuntarily create a poison emission which kills all those around her, deadly but as you can imagine somewhat inconvenient.
She eventually meets up with Mohinder and form a romantic relationship, unfortunatley due to mohinders experiments with the shanti virus this does not end well.
Dania Ramirez was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on the eighth of november 1979. She moved to New York as a child and was discovered whilst working on a shop by a scout for a modelling agency. She performed a small role in a soft drinks ad and this is where she was bitten by the acting bug. As soon as she could she upped sticks and moved to Los Angeles to persue her dream of becoming an actress. She appeared in a number of music videos, for Jay Z, LL Cool J and Santana. Her film and Tv work in such a short space of time is most impressive, and includes roles in The Sopranos, Buffy The Vampire Killer and X-Men: The Last Stand.
She lives in Los Angeles and is presently engaged to be married.
