A brilliant Caprican computer engineer, Daniel Graystone is also a successful businessman and one of the richest people on the planet. He is the CEO of his own technology firm and the inventor of the Holoband, used by people throughout the colonies to engage in virtual reality escapades. His pioneering work in robotics takes an unexpected turn when, faced with the fallout from a family tragedy, he begins to blur the line between organic and machine-based life.

As an actor, producer, and most recently director, Eric Stoltz continues to add to his reputation with an eclectic group of projects in film, television, and theatre.
A theatre trained actor, Mr. Stoltz starred in the Broadway productions of Larry Gelbart's "Sly Fox" with Richard Dreyfus, Checkov's "Three Sisters" with Paul Giamatti and Lili Taylor, and "Two Shakespearean Actors" with Victor Garber. He was honored with a Tony Award nomination for his work in the Broadway revival of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town" with Spalding Gray. Off-Broadway he has starred in "The Glass Menagerie," "The Importance of Being Ernest," "Arms and The Man," and "Light Up the Sky."

It was his startling portrayal of Rocky Dennis in Peter Bogdanovich's "Mask" that first gained Stoltz nationwide attention. Starring opposite Cher, Stoltz's work earned him a Golden Globe nomination. Additional films include "Pulp Fiction," "Little Women," "Rob Roy," "Memphis Belle," "Some Kind of Wonderful," "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," "The Butterfly Effect," "Anaconda," "Two Days in the Valley" and "The House of Mirth." He has performed cameos in the Cameron Crowe films "Jerry Maguire," "Singles," and "Say Anything."

Stoltz has starred in a number of successful independent films including Noah Baumbach's "Kicking and Screaming," "Killing Zoe," and the 1992 Sundance Film Festival winner "The Waterdance" with Helen Hunt. He also produced and starred in the films "Mr. Jealousy," "Bodies Rest & Motion," "Sleep With Me," and most recently "The Lather Effect."

Macy, a season on the critically acclaimed drama "Chicago Hope," a recurring role in "Once and Again" (an episode of which he also directed), and a recurring role as Helen Hunt's former boyfriend on the NBC sitcom "Mad About You."

He made his directorial debut with "My Horrible Year!" for Paramount Classics. The film stars Karen Allen and Mimi Rogers, and earned Stoltz a Daytime Emmy nomination for his work. He has also directed the short film "The Grand Design" starring Frances Conroy, as well as episodes of "Law and Order," "Boston Legal," and "Quarterlife."

He is a contributor to the book "New York City Secrets" by Robert Kahn, as well as the children's sing along CD "Philadelphia Chickens" by Sandra Boynton and featuring Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, and Patti LuPone.

When he's not working, Mr. Stoltz spends his spare time on his ranch in New Mexico.
