CAPRICA - THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY BEGINS WITH A CHOICE

At last Caprica is here, the Caprica pilot will be released on DVD by Playback on March 29th, and the series is presently being broadcast on Sky 1.

Caprica is set  50 years before “Battlestar Galactica,” and follows two rival families – the Graystones and the Adamas. who are bound together by tragedy, their ensuing struggle will determine the fate of the 12 Colonies.
The Caprican  society is rife with advanced technology but little do they know they are trembling on the brink of the creation of the first cybernetic life-form node, or  as it is better known by all serious Sci Fi fans a CYLON.
Passion, intrigue and betrayal set the stage for the coming revolution.
The Graystones and Adamas come from different cultures and wildly different socio- economic backgrounds. Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) is a computer genius and the leading businessman of the 12 Colonies. His wife, Amanda Graystone (Paula Malcolmson) is an elite neurosurgeon. Joseph Adama (Esai Morales) on the other hand  is an immigrant, a lawyer with ties to the mob, and a father who is desperate to reconnect with his estranged son, William (Sina Najafi), the future Admiral Bill Adama
Their bitter rivalry will bring the end of life as they know it. Their children are the future.

The Set Up for Caprica
Set on Caprica fifty eight years before the events of the Second Cylon War reimagined in the Battlestar Galactica saga, the Twelve Colonies are enjoying a long period of peace and prosperity, a Golden Age if you like. An act of religious fanaticism sets the fates of the Adamas and the Graystones onto a collision course. United in their grief for the loss of their daughters in same event, prominent civil liberties lawyer Joseph Adama (father of Admiral William Adama) and Daniel Graystone, a wealthy Caprica Industrialist, find themselves struggling with bereavment. Daniel becomes possessed by the idea of bringing the young girls back to life and dedicates his enormous weath and technological resources to achieving this seemingly impossible goal. But suprisingly his  experiments are suprisingly successful and his technological advances in robotics and AI lead to the inevitable creation of the Cylons. Meanwhile Joseph Adama  becomes a sworn opponent of Daniel Graystone and what he believes is an abomination.

“Caprica” is produced by Universal Cable Productions and executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick (“Battlestar Galactica”) and Remi Aubuchon (“24”). It is co-written by Aubuchon, Jane Espenson and Moore and directed by Jeffrey Reiner (“Friday Night Lights”).

The producers of the show David Eick and Ronald D Moore who also wrote and created the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica and although they say it is not necessary for you to have seen Battlestar Galactica for you to enjoy and appreciate Caprica, we are certain that Battlestar fans will love it.
