As the whole country is swept by Hulk fever we at Playback have released three great new versions of the classic The Incredible Hulk TV series.
Based on the Marvel comics character The Incredible Hulk is a follow up to the 2003 movie Hulk. Released in June 2008 the movie looks set to be a massive summer blockbuster.
It is directed by Louis Leterrier and stars Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, William Hurt as her father General Thaddeus Ross and Tim Roth as evil Emil Blonsky a.k.a The Abomination. The film follows Banner as he flees the pursuit of General Ross while attempting to find a cure to rid himself of the Hulk. When Blonsky personally volunteers to be injected with Banner's gamma formula to aid Ross in his capture, he becomes an even greater monster, and Banner must accept his inner beast to defeat Blonsky.
In June Playback released the following new The Incredible Hulk DVD sets, The Incredible Hulk Series 1&2, The Incredible Hulk Series 3 and The Incredible Hulk Series 4.
First aired in the US in 1978 the original series ran until 1982, and starred Bill Bixby as Doctor David Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk. It is rumoured that a young Arnold Swarzenegger was turned down for the part due to his lack of height, whatever the reason it did little damage to his career!
After a tragic laboratory accident Dr Banner unleashes an overdose of gamma radiation which causes a mutation in his brain which in turn leads to an stunning metamorphosis whenever he is outraged or loses his temper, Banner turns into the Hulk, a creature driven by pure rage.
Whilst trying to find a cure to get rid himself of the Hulk, David Banner must also stay one step ahead of Jack McGee, a reporter for The National Register who intends to capture the Hulk and exploit it to the world.
Probably the most famous quote from the series is:
“Mr McGee Don’t make me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”
