Peter Davison - Tristan Farnon

London born Peter Davison played the irresponsible Tristan Farnon, in the BBC TV series "All Creatures Great And Small". Tristan Farnon is the younger brother of gruff, eccentric Seigfried Farnon, senior partner of the darrowby vetinarian practice where the young James Herriot finds his first position. The paractice deals mainly with hill farmners and the local gentry, neither group known for it's sense of humour, especially where the antics of the younger Farnon are concerned. Despite his happy go lucky attitude Tristan does manage to pass his exams and become a vet. He loves to spend his time in the pub and with the local girls but when push comes to shove he can cover his share of the practice work. Seigfried spends far to much of his time trying to knock a sense of hard work and economy into his younger brother, and much of the shows comedy is based on their relationship and poor James Herriots attempts to cover up for Tristans indiscretions.

The character of Tristan Farnon was based on the real life younger brother of James Herriot's aka James Alfred Wights, senior partner Donald Sinclair, who's name was Brian Sinclair.

I would love to see The last Detective revived. There is so much that could be done with these characters and Dangerous is a great leading man. Sean Hughes is excellent, while most would like to see DI davies get a little further up the detective ladder. compared to Mid Somer Murders its far more athmospheric and enjoyable. would love to see it get another chance. Julie's not bad either.
